Alabama Abortion Bill, A Win for Pro-lifers

By Hannah Watkins

The Alabama bill sponsored by Representative Terri Collins was passed on Tuesday, May 14th, 2019. The bill is the most restrictive in the nation. It has caused outrage from the left and even some Republicans think it has gone too far.

It is hard to understand how we as a society allow the killing of the unborn. Times have changed since 1973 when

Roe V Wade was set into law by our Supreme Court. Science has shown us so much more then we knew back then. Although most people in their hearts assumed that the fetus is a life, now science has proven it factually. Now that we know this is a fact, civil society must act to protect these innocent children.

It is time to wake up and see abortion for what it is. The cold hard facts are clear. It is the murdering of the unborn and defining these lives as invaluable.

If the people of the United States think Alabama went too far, can't we all agree that there should be limits?

Governor Kay Ivey states, “Today, I signed into law the Alabama Human Life Protection Act. To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious & that every life is a sacred gift from God.“

I stand by the Governor 100 % percent. We as a society must protect the vulnerable, which the unborn truly are. When we look at what abortion truly is.

The Pro-choice outlook on this bill will be that woman should have control over their bodies, not lawmakers. This is a commonly flawed opinion that is used all the time. What has happened to the mindset of mothers? What would allow the natural instincts of motherhood, to be overcome with this obsession of "controlling their own bodies", that leads to the death of their own innocent baby?

Since Roe V Wade over 61 million babies have been aborted in the United States. Worldwide that number is over 1.5 Billion. In 2015, there were 638,169 abortions performed in the United States alone! Those numbers were lower than in past years but are a staggering loss for America. There is a tracker at www.abortioncounters.com that updates abortions real-time worldwide. It is like the national debt clock, but this deals with abortions. It is really quite sad.

One of the many inconsistencies of the left that has baffled me is that they say they are always for the children. They say that conservatives hate women and children. If you follow politics, you hear it all the time and know exactly what I am talking about. Yet when it comes to the innocent lives of the unborn, they want to allow them to be murdered until the day they are born, and in some states beyond that. In my opinion, something is terribly wrong with people who think like that. Something is terribly wrong with a society that allows this type of treatment to a living defenseless child in the womb. So thank you to the legislature in Alabama for doing the right thing by passing this piece of legislation!
